Alison Harbaugh came to Annapolis, Maryland in the summer of 2002 after leaving Philadelphia to pursue a career in photography. With a degree in Graphic Design Communications from Philadelphia University, she jumped at the opportunity to follow her heart and leapt into the photography world head first. Her first job was as a sports photographer at the United States Naval Academy where she learned the ins and outs of the sports photography world alongside the head photographer at the Naval Academy Athletic Association. After two years of shooting the many varsity sports at USNA, she took the next plunge into the world of photojournalism by taking a full time position as a photojournalist for the Annapolis Capital newspaper. For three years, she captured the spirit of the people of Anne Arundel County and created many memorable moments through the variety of assignments she had experienced. In doing this, she realized that her real passion was in sealing a moment in time and capturing the true essence of a person’s personality, especially children who quickly can become unaware of the camera documenting them as they play.

She is involved in Vision Workshops, a non profit workshop that works with children in the community (visionworkshops.org), teaching them to express themselves using photography and writing.

She also works as a teacher for Already Artists in downtown Annapolis. Already
Artists is a place for children to come and create art while learning a little art history and having fun while doing it. (alreadyartists.com)

She has photographed The Ravens, Navy Athletics, weddings, interiors, children, pets, corporate events, portraits, news, special events and documentary projects.

She currently resides in Annapolis, Maryland with her turtle Sebastian who will live a longer life than she will.
